Second to Last Week of Sculpture Carving

I am continuing to overcome hiccups in carving my 12 foot tall granite sculpture for the Changsha International Sculpture Art Festival 2014.

The impact gun I bought last week has a strike so hard, it breaks the low quality Chinese steel adapters I have the crew weld onto my American bushing chisels. Plus, the vibrations result in the air fitting connections wearing out, – also due to the low quality Chinese steel they are made of – resulting in valuable compressed air loss.

But I am limping along, repairing and replacing items as I need. Above is the male, with his right leg, hands and feet being modelled with the angle grinder before the bushing chisel carving finish.

The weather has been very accommodating – only two days with a spittle of rain in the past month. With no shelter from precipitation available, this has certainly been a bonus for me. Today was overcast and comfortable, though the Changsha natives felt it was cold!

In a few days, Michelle will arrive. I am looking forward to not only getting my proper replacement air hammer, but to be holding my sweetie once again after 6 weeks apart….
